This is the site for the test track in the early days. The grass has been lifted and the area roughly levelled. Concrete kerbing stones are in the process of being laid. The distance from the row of kerb stones across the front of the photo to the wall at the rear is approximately 30ft.

In this photo I have laid about 1½ tons of gravel and two 10ft. lengths of track are loosely in place to see what the finished line will look like.

Finally 30ft. of track is laid and ballasted and when this photo was taken I had run the battery loco up and down a few times just to check the rail alignment
